The Marshalltown Difference
In 1890, Jesse and Lester Williams started a small machine shop on East Church Street in Marshalltown, Iowa, repairing bicycles and automobiles. One local plasterer’s request for a set of custom tools changed these brothers’ lives and the history of the construction tools industry. The Marshalltown Trowel Company was born in 1905 and grew steadily, until World War I changed everything again. In 1918, Marshalltown sent 18,000 trowels to Europe in support of the U.S. war effort. After the war, craftsmen returned home taking their trowels with them and spreading the Marshalltown name and reputation for quality worldwide.
Marshalltown Trowel changed its name in 2003, now offering over 5,000 products for professionals and do-it-yourselfers in asphalt, brick, concrete, drywall, EIFS, flooring, paint, plaster, stucco, tile, and wallpaper. To its customers and others in the industry, the company is known for the best tools, and it is known by one name – MARSHALLTOWN.
